Game 18: Ducks @ Kings 11.16.11

POST GAME QUOTES:
"We didn’t really get our game going until the last half of the hockey game and then we played the type of hockey that’s going to be required," Carlyle said. "Our goaltender was called upon to make some big stops for us tonight, and that’s what’s required on the road."
"It's tough to lose a point in that kind of fashion, but I thought the boys played a hard game," Bobby Ryan said. "We had so many chances and Quick was standing on his head, really sucking pucks in and not letting any rebounds or chances for us."
"We found a way to get back into the game and I thought we played well in the third," Hiller said. "I thought I was pretty sharp tonight and saw the puck pretty well. At the same time, I think we did a better job in front of our net to take sticks away and didn't give them second and third chances. In the end it's six players working together in your own zone and I think we did a pretty good job tonight."
"We got the point and we worked hard for it," Carlyle said. "It’s one shot away in the shootout from being a difference maker. Right now things aren’t going our way, but if we work as hard as we did in the last half of this hockey game, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel "

Game 39: Ducks @ Kings 12.26.10

OPINION:
I showed up for this game. In enemy territory. The Ducks, on the other hand, did not. After a scoreless 1st period, the Ducks got lost in the 2nd period. The Kings got on the board first, but the Ducks (Belesky) answered right away with a tying goal. After that, they went to sleep and the Kings scored 3 more unanswered goals. With only tallying 3 shots on goal in the entire 3rd period, the Kings sailed to the victory. And when you're a Ducks fan in Kings territory when they win, you get quacked at. They think it's insulting, or something. I think it makes them look like morons. What can you do?
POST GAME QUOTES:
“We made too many critical mistakes with the puck," said Ducks coach Randy Carlyle. "We didn’t execute anywhere near our abilities and it seemed like we couldn’t get anything going.”
“It was a tough game," Hiller said. "The ice was bouncy, the pucks were bouncing. It was tough to control rebounds. The pucks were all over the place and it wasn’t easy to play tonight. We gave them way too many chances in our slot. I probably should have stopped some and no one would talk about it but it wasn’t good enough tonight.”
"It’s always deflating to see them get three goals in a row," Carlyle said. "We fumbled the puck and we should have had someone in position to recover it. They made a shot that nine times out of 10 our goalie would have stopped but he didn’t tonight."

Game 81: Ducks @ Kings
Ducks Win 4-3!!!!
PERIOD 1: 2 - 1
PERIOD 2: 3 - 3
PERIOD 3: 4 - 3
OK I finally am feeling up to the task of reviewing this game. I think that the Ducks came out to this one wanting to just have fun, really. The game meant squat to where they would end up in the playoffs, having 4th place locked up. And fun they did have. The Kings, on the other hand, were looking to give their fans one more win for the year. Such a shame that didn't happen. I have to give honorable mention to the Royal Execution that was organized over on the official Ducks Message Board... about 130 fans made the trip to Staples Center to view the game live (I was one of them!) and take over the arena. 2 sections directly behind the net that Ducks shot at twice were loaded full of black, orange, white, and gold wearing fans, and LET'S GO DUCKS chants were louder than the ever popular "Ducks Suck" chants. Comedy. Anyways, this was a great game and I was glad to be a part of it. Even lost my voice from it. Good times. At least Kings fans got to leave the last game of their hockey season in the same way they are used to leaving their building, with a loss. :) (Common, it's a rivalry, it wouldn't be natural for me as a Ducks fan to not poke fun at them.)

Game 53: Ducks @ Kings
Ducks Lose 3 - 1
PERIOD 1: 0 - 1
PERIOD 2: 0 - 3
PERIOD 3: 1 - 3
A few hours before the game our family friend informed us that he would not be able to go to the game tonight in LA, and that he had spares. So we took them and off to the game I go. First time at the Staples center. We had pretty good seats in the VIP level. Hot dogs there are gross but they have some good cookies. The only thing missing was the Ducks team... seriously... Got to sit there and watch them stand around, look tired, and all the things in between. Jiggy got pulled, Hiller did a nice job filling in for him. At least the Ducks didn't get shut out... Rob (Or should I say..Robin?) tallied the Ducks only goal, and by then, it was too late. They had one in the first period but it was ruled "no goal" because it wasn't completely in the net before the horn sounded. I didn't get to see the TV replays but my sister said it was about a half second too late into the net. Sucks! Not the best way to start this long road trip, but they have the all-star break... a week without any real hockey.. Ughhh. Oh yes, and one more thing before I call it a night, Getzlaf's point streak has come to an end. Bummer.

Game 20: Ducks @ Kings
PERIOD 1: 0 - 1
PERIOD 2: 2 - 2
PERIOD 3: 6 - 3
Woooo! Not only a come from behind type of win, but a CONVINCING win!! :) And in regulation too! YAYYYY!!!! Gave a nice little reality check to the Queens. Their announcers were hillarious too by the way. They must've mentioned about 8 times that they're the "comeback kids" and that it's possible for them to do to the Ducks what they did to Dallas. Right. That's gonna happen... (In case you missed it or have been living under a rock, the Kings came back to beat Dallas down 5-0 with 5 minutes 45 seconds left in the 3rd period. They tallied 5 goals in 5 minutes and 7 seconds.) That type of thing only happens once in a blue moon and now they think it's going to happen all the time! RIOT!
Perry was just shy of a hat trick tonight. I was hoping he'd get it. Yelling at the TV for him to stay out there for the empty net. LOL. Oh well. He's been ON FIRE this season. 11 goals.
Sweet win. I love beating those chumps. :)
