Yay, a Ducks update! Selanne, Niedermayer, Stanley Cup

This blog in the off season often gets too quiet for my liking. I don't like posting rumors, especially bogus rumors, that's Eklund's job. But I'm not opposed to posting speculation. I mean, after all, most of the off season includes a ton of speculation about your team. So let's get going... I'm at the point where I'll grab onto any piece of Ducks news I can indulge in.

Reports are out that Selanne will come back for another go around as long as the Ducks want to remain a competitive team. A winning team. He wants no part of the rebuilding hoopla. He, like uh-- every single player in the NHL, wants the playoffs. He wants, of course, a shot at Lord Stanley. So he made it known. The OC Register article can be found HERE.

Now for the little piece of Niedermayer news. There's been rumors floating around that he might go to Vancouver (Bogus rumor, thanks Eklund) or perhaps New Jersey (more realistic, but still not likely). Well his agent came out and said it's likely Anaheim or nothing for Niedermayer. His family has their home here, they're settled in, yadda yadda. So calm those ruffled feathers. If he plays he plays here in Anaheim. The report can be found HERE.

And for those of us who get to attend the 2010 NHL Draft up in L.A. this year... there'll be a special visitor there on display. That's right, Lord Stanley will be making a displayed appearance at the Draft. Hilarious for two reasons.. A. The Draft is in LA, so it'll be on Display for L.A. fans to remind them of what they don't have, and B. The Draft is in LA, it's close enough for Ducks fans to migrate to -- and Kings fans will hate that, because well, we have actually won that Cup. And they haven't. WIN. LINK

It's A BOY

Congrats to Scott and Lisa Niedermayer, they welcomed in a new baby boy this afternoon. Luke Scott Niedermayer at 9lbs 1oz.

!!!

I think the next Duckling on the list belongs to Pronger.

Ok, We'll know by Monday!

Apparently Scott Niedermayer's new baby is due tomorrow (perfect timing little one)... so Burke extended his deadline to let us know what he intends to do through the weekend. So he could announce tomorrow but he'll probably wait til Monday. So we'll know by Monday!

I feel like I've done this before... this whole waiting game thing, with wondering every day what Scott is gonna do (and Teemu!)... oh wait. It's cause I have!

Teemu still can do whatever he wants but Burke held a press conference today and said if he hasn't made up his mind by the 1st then he has no other choice but to pursue other options which means cutting into the salary cap that's so far still open for Teemu. So... FOR THE LOVE OF HOCKEY TEEMU!! GIVE AN ANSWER BEFORE JULY 1ST!! :)

We'll know by Friday (6/20/08)

Per TSN us Ducks fans should know on Friday what Scott Niedermayer intends to do-- Fulfill his last year on contract, or retire. Selanne does not have the same deadline as he is a free agent, but he has said he'd let everyone know by July 1st.

My prediction is that I believe both will make a return to the ice. :]

What is your prediction?

In case you haven't heard...

.. if you are a Ducks fan that lives under a rock.. I'd like to announce that Scotty is officially a Duck again. He's expected to be playing in 7 to 10 days...

..now expect for a defensemen to be gone. Schneider, O'donnel, and Beauchemin are all candidates for this. The most likely to leave, in my opinion, is O'donnel. But who knows..

There you have it folks. HE'S BACK!

And for those that need absolute proof of it: NIEDERMAYER RETURNS TO THE DUCKS Click that link.

Man today was an eventful day. I'm tired!

Congrats to Teemu & Family:

Veera Johanna Selanne was born at 12:23 p.m. today. *she's about a month early eh?*

Congrats Selanne Family!!!!

SCOTTY!! Announcement at 6:30PM--

"Okay, since the item about Scotty got kind of mixed in with everything else posted below, let me reiterate. Brian Burke will make an announcement at 6:30 tonight about Scotty. From what I'm told, he's coming back. Exactly when that will be, we don't know yet. But I can tell you from my gut feeling that it won't be on this upcoming road trip. I would guess Dec. 12 at Vancouver at the very earliest."

That is from the Ducks Official Blog, written by Adam Brady.

:D :D :D :D :D Wooooo!!

Niedermayer Establishing his own Personal Deadline

THIS IS FROM TSN:

"Scott Niedermayer hasn't entirely made up his mind as to whether to return to the NHL or not, however he intends to force that decision in the coming weeks.

Niedermayer believes he needs to establish a personal deadline and won't say when that deadline is, other than to admit a decision on his playing future will be made well before Christmas.

The veteran defenseman say he has been working out, staying in shape and is just starting to intensify his routine.

Perhaps a hint, at least partially, his decision has been made, although he will not state that for the record.

The fact the Ducks are a sub-500 hockey team, struggling to regain their Stanley Cup form hasn't been lost on Niedermayer and he may feel a sense of responsibility to help Anaheim defend.

To date, Ducks general manager Brian Burke hasn't pressured his former captain, and it doesn't appear he'll have to.

Burke will soon have an answer and so will Niedermayer's fans."

SOUNDS LIKE HE IS GETTING READY TO COME BACK TO ME.
Take it as you will.
