Game 16: Ducks vs. Stars

PERIOD 3: 5 - 0 hook, line, and sinker.

Blanked AGAIN. They appeared as though they just quit playing and gave up... IN THE SECOND PERIOD. That means 2 periods full of... crappy playing. When it was 1-0 I thought to myself: "wow they are so lucky it's not worse than this".... oh.. it got worse. And like the Columbus game way back when, I'd just rather NOT talk about it. The score speaks for itself.

Nice impressive win tonight. Corey Perry with the Gordie Howe hat trick, and did you see his empty net goal at the end? ALL THE WAY from behind OUR goal line. SWEET GOAL! Watch a replay of it if you missed it... beautiful goal.

Schneider is making his name known on the Ducks as well. He had a great night and impressed Ducks fans.

Great game tonight, I'm very happy with the way they played.

Niedermayer Establishing his own Personal Deadline

THIS IS FROM TSN:

"Scott Niedermayer hasn't entirely made up his mind as to whether to return to the NHL or not, however he intends to force that decision in the coming weeks.

Niedermayer believes he needs to establish a personal deadline and won't say when that deadline is, other than to admit a decision on his playing future will be made well before Christmas.

The veteran defenseman say he has been working out, staying in shape and is just starting to intensify his routine.

Perhaps a hint, at least partially, his decision has been made, although he will not state that for the record.

The fact the Ducks are a sub-500 hockey team, struggling to regain their Stanley Cup form hasn't been lost on Niedermayer and he may feel a sense of responsibility to help Anaheim defend.

To date, Ducks general manager Brian Burke hasn't pressured his former captain, and it doesn't appear he'll have to.

Burke will soon have an answer and so will Niedermayer's fans."

SOUNDS LIKE HE IS GETTING READY TO COME BACK TO ME.
Take it as you will.

Game 13: Ducks vs. Oilers

PERIOD 1: 0 - 1

PERIOD 2: 1 - 1

PERIOD 3: 2 - 2

OVER TIME: 2 - 2

SHOOT OUT: 2 - 3

Um...ROBBED!!! So the Ducks surrendered a last minute SHORT HANDED goal to the greasers that sent us into over time and a shoot out. We were THISCLOSE to winning and 2 points. Instead, because they didn't play a FULL 60 minutes, we get robbed and leave with 1 point, while at the same time giving the greasers those 2 points.

They did play a good game. The first period was slow though, as it usually is. But the 2nd period for the last half, we pretty much dominated them. The 3rd period we still pressured them and played. But then a penalty came to the Oilers with a little over 2 minutes left in the game. They kind of cooled their heels a little bit and well, you should know the rest if you're a Ducks fan.. or any other fan of any other team that's currently laughing at what a pathetic start the Ducks are off to this season.

Well.. after Thursday's game against the Blue Jackets we can sweep the month of October underneath the rug and pretend it never happened. :) Just kidding, but we CAN move on to November and hope November is nicer to us than October seems to be.

What a craptacular game. Our power play is simply non-existant. I don't even know what to say about this game. They at least showed some effort, in spite of having 4 major players out with injuries. Hmm. I don't know.

Bryz was in net tonight, allowing Giguere a rest. Don't know why Randy went with Bryz but it's usually because the 2nd goalie usually takes a start against weaker teams. Of course, we were a pretty weak team tonight ourselves. Oh well.

Well, I am hoping for a return from all 4 before the game against Edmonton. (Not that it's gonna happen, but one can hope). Wouldn't it be nice to have Schneider (finally), Bertuzzi, Getzlaf, and Niedermayer back in the lineup for the Edmonton game? I think so. Not sure how possible that even is though.

Anyway, bad game. This year is really proving..you can't win em all.
Here's to a better game on Sunday!

Game 11: Ducks @ Blues

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket @ Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

PERIOD 1: 0 - 0

PERIOD 2: 2 - 3

PERIOD 3: 2 - 4

I was unable to watch this on TV but I had my radio in class with me. From the sounds of things, the Ducks are plagued with injuries. Getzlaf is now out, with an "upper body injury" that they never went into detail with on the radio. May might have injured his hand, but he was out playing after the scrap that hurt his hand. Of course, Bertuzzi and Schneider are still out. Rob Niedermayer was a scratch with a groin injury. Oh well, injuries happen. Can't avoid that.

From what I heard on the radio, it sounded like they had their usual slow 1st period. They played a better 2nd period, tallying two goals. But that just wasn't enough. They failed multiple times on power plays, which is a repeated offense by this team. Their power play/special team just isn't working out just right. Of course, there was an almost goal by Pronger, that went under review, and came out that he hit the crossbar. Sucks. That would have been the tieing goal.

A particularly annoying thing tonight to any Ducks fan, is the weasle Paul Kariya got two goals for his new squad. Yuck. His 2nd goal was the empty netter that brought the score to its final 4-2.

So in this 2 game roadie, they come back with 0 points. Playing Phoenix on Thursday at home. Which I have to miss out on because of class, but again I'll have my radio.
