Game 82: Ducks @ Coyotes 4.11.09

Ducks Lose 5-4 in SO

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GAME DAY QUOTES:
"I made the save and then my pad went in the net and the puck follows," Giguere said. "It was a little lucky but that's the way it goes."

"We got ourselves in the playoffs now and we should be excited about that," said Ducks defenseman Scott Niedermayer, who had a pair of assists. "It's really not going to matter who we play. We're going to be playing a really good hockey club."

"I don't know what's ahead of me," Giguere said. "I wanted to make sure this period was a good one, a positive one. Whatever the future holds we'll see what's going to happen. For now it felt good just to play one period."

"As I've stated before we have 1-A and 1-B," Carlyle said. "These kind of things make these decisions even tougher. Four goals, that's what alarms me."

Game 81: Ducks vs. Stars 4.10.09

Ducks WIN 4-3 in SO, Clinch a Playoff Spot!!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GAME DAY QUOTES:
"We’ve come together to push us into the playoffs and give us an opportunity to see what we can do there," said Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer. "It’s always nice to have that opportunity. We’ve had more consistency and playing the way we need to."

"Overall, I think I felt alright," Beauchemin said. "I got the puck early on a couple of breakouts, offensive zone faceoffs and all that stuff. I didn’t run out of breath. Conditioning-wise, I felt actually almost better than ever. The knee had no problems. I hit a couple of guys. I didn’t feel a thing tonight. That is good news."

"We’re in," said Ducks coach Randy Carlyle. "You work all year. You start in September with your group and you have visions of playing in the playoffs. It’s a marathon that we just are about to complete with one more game in Phoenix. It again is an important game for us from a standpoint of improving our position. It’s amazing that all of these games have had a certain degree of importance. Tomorrow is no different."

Game 80: Ducks vs. Sharks 4.5.09

Ducks Lose 3-2

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GAME DAY QUOTES:
"We had many chances at the end there to put the puck away," said Ryan Getzlaf, who had a chance to punch in a rolling puck in the closing seconds, but couldn't get his stick on it under pressure from Marc-Edouard Vlasic. "We played a good hockey team tonight. There is no doubt about it. There were a few chances that were missed and a few penalties taken in different situations that we shouldn’t have."

"There were obviously some emotions, frustrations and whatnot," said Ducks coach Randy Carlyle. "It was all displayed toward the end of the hockey game, that is for sure. We didn’t seem to have the required energy tonight for stretches of the game. It seemed like we were running on fumes at times. That leads to mistakes, turnovers and some of things that we haven’t done from a structured standpoint."

"It’s tough, but it’s nice that we get a little bit of a break before our last two games, especially this late in this season," Perry said. "We’ve been playoff hockey for the last couple of weeks here. It’s been a long haul and we’re in a great position where we are. It’s our destiny. We have to come out and prove that we belong there. We have to ready for Friday. It’s going to be a test, especially with these days off. We have to be prepared."

Game 79: Ducks @ Sharks 4.4.09

Ducks Win 5-2!!!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GAME DAY QUOTES:
"I never said anything," said Ryan, whose two goals included his 30th of the season, a new Ducks rookie record. "He has eyes on the back of his head, and he saw me."

"It's a situation where I know he's there," Getzlaf said of Ryan. "I may not know he's right beside the net, but I know he's back there somewhere, so I can throw it and trust that he's going to make the play on it."

"They were flat-out dominant," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said of the Ducks' high-scoring line. "They were the top players in the game. We had last change, we could have matched anybody we wanted, but it wouldn't have mattered. They were playing that well."

Game 78: Ducks @ Canucks 4.2.09

Ducks Win 6-5 in SO

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GAME DAY QUOTES:
"I think it's a tribute to the guys recognizing around the room and on the ice and on the bench that we're not out of it just because we're down two," said rookie Bobby Ryan, who set up Anaheim's first goal and scored the next two.

"We feel like we belong in the upper echelon in this conference and it's been a long year with a lot of inconsistency and if we can manage to peak at the right time then hopefully we can create some damage," Ryan said.

"We live another day," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "It's the most important game of the season at this point. They all are at this time. When you're in a desperate situation as we are, there's no other way to explain it. Every point is precious and more precious as the games dwindle down."

"Up, down, up, down, it's one of those nights where we just keep plugging away and we knew we were going to get our chances if we just kept going to the net and kept battling and we got rewarded for how hard we worked," Perry said.

"I don't mind five goals if we win," Hiller said. "We can definitely play better, more structure, but we'll take these two points and be happy about it."
