Game 55: Ducks @ Blues

Ducks Lose in Shootout 0 - 1

PERIOD 1: 0 - 0
PERIOD 2: 0 - 0
PERIOD 3: 0 - 0
OVER TIME: 0 - 0
SHOOT OUT: 0 - 1

That's the first time I have had to type out 0's all the way down until the shootout. And in Ducks fashion, we lose in the shootout. Of course, Andy Mac has to score on us... :( I still miss him. We did get 1 point though, which is better than the past 4 games where we've gotten straight 0's. I can't wait for Teemu to be back on the ice, we really need more scoring. I have to give props to Legace though... he was just ridiculous between the pipes. Giguere did well too, until the shootout. :-/

Ducks Lose 5 - 1

PERIOD 1: 0 - 0
PERIOD 2: 1 - 4
PERIOD 3: 1 - 5

I'm so annoyed with how they played tonight. Are you serious?? Uck. Giguere got pulled AGAIN after the 3rd consecutive goal by Minnesota. He was pretty pissed off. Probably at himself but also at the team. Ya know.. the one that stood around in front of him and the one that wasn't playing... that one. Corey Perry was the only Duck to get a goal tonight. So good job Perry! Thanks! I really do hate it when they have a week off because they get rusty, but this doesn't even stem to the week off.. they lost 3 games before the all star break.. tonight makes the 4th loss in a row. What a slump. Oh well... we will prevail.

In case you live under a rock..

Teemu Selanne announced today that he would be returning to the Ducks. He is going on the road trip with the team. :)

Not like you didn't already know this by now, but maybe you really do live under a rock?

Game 53: Ducks @ Kings

Ducks Lose 3 - 1

PERIOD 1: 0 - 1
PERIOD 2: 0 - 3
PERIOD 3: 1 - 3

A few hours before the game our family friend informed us that he would not be able to go to the game tonight in LA, and that he had spares. So we took them and off to the game I go. First time at the Staples center. We had pretty good seats in the VIP level. Hot dogs there are gross but they have some good cookies. The only thing missing was the Ducks team... seriously... Got to sit there and watch them stand around, look tired, and all the things in between. Jiggy got pulled, Hiller did a nice job filling in for him. At least the Ducks didn't get shut out... Rob (Or should I say..Robin?) tallied the Ducks only goal, and by then, it was too late. They had one in the first period but it was ruled "no goal" because it wasn't completely in the net before the horn sounded. I didn't get to see the TV replays but my sister said it was about a half second too late into the net. Sucks! Not the best way to start this long road trip, but they have the all-star break... a week without any real hockey.. Ughhh. Oh yes, and one more thing before I call it a night, Getzlaf's point streak has come to an end. Bummer.

Perry and Niedermayer are All-Stars, Too.

Due to injuries, Perry and Niedermayer have been named as replacements for the all-star games this weekend. So that gives us a total of 4 Ducks in the all-star games. Good stuff. NOW, to address those who think Niedermayer does not deserve to be an all-star this year... here is my opinion... He does deserve to be there. There is no question that Scott Niedermayer is an all-star player. No question! Yes, he did sit out for the first half of the season to think about retirement. But here's the deal, he was told by Burke to take his time, because in July he wanted to retire, and Burke told him to re-think it, and that he has no time limit to his decision. So he did what he was told, and looky here, we have him back with the team. Had he not been told to re-think his possibilities, he would not be out there skating. And then, he comes back right? Since Niedermayer's return the Ducks have the BEST record in the whole NHL during that time span... he brought the team back to contention for the number 1 spot in the pacific division. And no, I don't think it's a coincidence. He plays like an all-star, has the skills of an all-star, and deserves 100% to be an all-star. And if you're still not convinced, just look at it as make-up for last year when he had to sit out because of his foot injury.

:) Have a nice day.

Ducks Lose 2 - 1

PERIOD 1: 0 - 1

PERIOD 2: 0 - 2

PERIOD 3: 1 - 2

Ughh the one game I desperately wanted them to win and they come close but no. It just didn't happen. They didn't play a full 60 minutes, when they finally scored they struck some momentum and it was too late at that point. The plus sides to tonight were the Pronger fight.. now that was just awesome. Don't mess with Pronger! And that Getzlaf continues his point streak. On to tomorrow folks..

Ducks Lose 5 - 2 :(

PERIOD 1: 0 - 1
PERIOD 2: 0 - 1
PERIOD 3: 2 - 5

The Ducks just didn't play as if they wanted the win... not until it was too late anyway. Ugh what a frustrating loss this is. However, I would take this loss if it means a win against Detroit. :) That's what I want. Our undefeated in January (in regulation) streak has come to an end. But Getz's point streak has been extended to 14 games. Only Teemu Selanne has a longer streak than him. How about that "goal" (I cringe calling it that) that Dallas got that changed the whole game. Clearly the puck was kicked in, and they rule it a goal. It was so distinct of a kick that everyone in my house thought it'd be a no-goal. The announcers on TV said it was kicked in. However, it was ruled a goal, and it just changed the whole game. BAD CALL... I am not being biased when I say that either, it was a terrible call. Should have been no goal. On to Detroit, the team I'd rather see us beat. :P

DUCKS WIN 4 - 2!!!!

Period 1: 1 - 0

Period 2: 3 - 2

Period 3: 4 - 2

I think my star of the game tonight is Big Bert... tallied 2 goals, and the 2nd one was huge! Thank you Bert, and thank you Ducks. Two wins, back to back, ON THE ROAD! 2 more points so we can stay in the #1 spot. WOOOO!! And on the injury note, May got hurt again, they say it's a hand injury. He played the playoffs with a broken hand so we'll see how bad it is. Great, BIG win tonight. On to Dallas.

DUCKS WIN 2 - 1!!

PERIOD 1: 1 - 0

PERIOD 2: 1 - 0

PERIOD 3: 2 - 1

Bochenski and Perry with the two goals! That was Perry's 25th goal of the season, and Bochenski got his 2nd. Good game, they survived. Pronger left the 1st period after blocking a shot and has a bruised knee. Not very happy about that, but I am happy the Ducks were able to pull of this win. Good way to start this road trip. Also, as of RIGHT NOW the Ducks have taken over the 1st place spot. We only keep that if SJ loses to Dallas tonight *Crosses Fingers*.

DUCKS WIN 4 - 2!

PERIOD 1: 1 - 1

PERIOD 2: 3 - 2

PERIOD 3: 4 - 2

This was a huge game, and the Stars don't have our number anymore. The power of Niedermayer was out there tonight. He got a goal (a VERY beautiful goal), and he got an assist. He prevented some goals against us too. Just watching him, you have to be so glad he is back. He's getting in to top form now. Bertuzzi, how about that guy? He's got 3 goals in 3 games now. Way to go Big Bert!! Not to forget mentioning Getzlaf for his goal. I am beyond glad that they pulled this game off... they deserved this win and what a big win it was. We're now behind SJ by 1 point for 1st place. SJ lost tonight too, so YAY!!!

DUCKS WIN 4 - 3 IN OVER TIME!

PERIOD 1: 1 - 2

PERIOD 2: 2 - 3

PERIOD 3: 3 - 3

OVER TIME: 4 - 3

The Ducks were SECONDS away from losing this game and Douggie gets the TIEING goal and sends them to overtime, where THE DUCKS WIN!!! That is 2 POINTS that the Ducks wouldn't have had but got!! I'm not even mad SJ got a point... we got 2 that we almost didn't have AT ALL!!!!! This has got to be one of the most exciting wins of the year... it was a huge huge game!

Pronger and Getzlaf to All Star Games

If you are a Ducks fan you know by now that Pronger and Getzlaf have been selected to participate in the all-star games at the end of this month.

NHL.com has a nice article about Getzlaf getting picked to be an all star. I enjoyed the article, so I'm going to post the link so if you missed it, you can enjoy it as well. Getzlaf is Excited

Happy reading!

DUCKS WIN 5 - 0

PERIOD 1: 2 - 0

PERIOD 2: 2 - 0

PERIOD 3: 5 - 0

Great game. The Ducks have now scored 10 goals in the past 2 games!! Tonight was nice because we had goal scoring from all different people. Bertuzzi, Perry, Bochenski, Weight, and Kunitz. Good job!! Getzlaf assisted Perry's goal and is now on a career high point streak. Bochenski got his first goal as a duck. Weight got his 700th assist and is the 5th US born player to reach that milestone. Oh yeah, let's not forget...Giguere got his 2nd shutout of the season. :)

Game 45: Ducks vs. Predators

Photobucket vs. Photobucket

DUCKS WIN 5 - 2

PERIOD 1: 0 - 1

PERIOD 2: 4 - 1

PERIOD 3: 5 - 2

This was a great game. After a weak 1st period they came out in the 2nd on fire and just dominated really. Got a tad sloppy but recovered and we end up scoring more than 2 goals in a game with a final score of 5 to 2. Nicely done!! :) Scotty had a bit of a rocky game but I think that's only noticeable because I have been watching him like a hawk ever since he came back to the team, so his mistakes are more noticeable to me. He really didn't do THAT bad but had a couple mistakes, one led to a goal, another he recovered from it and showed signs of anger with himself. So it's ok. GO DUCKS!

DUCKS LOSE 2 - 3 IN SHOOT OUT

PERIOD 1: 1 - 0

PERIOD 2: 2 - 2

PERIOD 3: 2 - 2

OT: 2 - 2

SO: 2 - 3

Suckered by the shootout again. Shouldn't have even gone to the shootout.. I don't know. Phoenix is not a team to toy around with anymore, they're turning into an actual threat which is kinda disgusting. Bryz after being traded there decided to become good at shootouts, what's the deal? Jiggy I have heard was battling the flu though, dunno if he was still feeling it tonight.. he actually didn't look bad until the shootout. He stood on his head for the 3rd period practically.. ah well. The advantage is at least we got a point. It's not 2, but it's not 0 either. It's 1. :P

Game 43: Ducks vs. Blackhawks

Photobucket vs. Photobucket

DUCKS WIN 2 - 1

PERIOD 1: 2 - 0

PERIOD 2: 2 - 1

PERIOD 3: 2 - 1

Another game where I can't say it was a pretty win, but let's face the facts... 2 points is 2 points...The Ducks actually played a good 1st period for once and that's where they got their 2 goals... the last 2 periods were kinda blahhhhhh. I'm gonna start bringing a hat with me to games...I can feel a hat trick somewhere in this squad and I want to have a hat when it happens.

They play again tomorrow at 6pm, so maybe the last two periods were energy saving periods... maybe?

Everyone is happier when the Ducks win! haha right? Well if you're a Ducks fan.. Tonight I'll go with it was a good game...they were sloppy often but managed the win so no complaints from me! I don't have much to recap on, they looked good. I was hoping for a Parros fight but oh well. :P
