Game 13: Ducks vs. Oilers

PERIOD 1: 0 - 1

PERIOD 2: 1 - 1

PERIOD 3: 2 - 2

OVER TIME: 2 - 2

SHOOT OUT: 2 - 3

Um...ROBBED!!! So the Ducks surrendered a last minute SHORT HANDED goal to the greasers that sent us into over time and a shoot out. We were THISCLOSE to winning and 2 points. Instead, because they didn't play a FULL 60 minutes, we get robbed and leave with 1 point, while at the same time giving the greasers those 2 points.

They did play a good game. The first period was slow though, as it usually is. But the 2nd period for the last half, we pretty much dominated them. The 3rd period we still pressured them and played. But then a penalty came to the Oilers with a little over 2 minutes left in the game. They kind of cooled their heels a little bit and well, you should know the rest if you're a Ducks fan.. or any other fan of any other team that's currently laughing at what a pathetic start the Ducks are off to this season.

Well.. after Thursday's game against the Blue Jackets we can sweep the month of October underneath the rug and pretend it never happened. :) Just kidding, but we CAN move on to November and hope November is nicer to us than October seems to be.

What a craptacular game. Our power play is simply non-existant. I don't even know what to say about this game. They at least showed some effort, in spite of having 4 major players out with injuries. Hmm. I don't know.

Bryz was in net tonight, allowing Giguere a rest. Don't know why Randy went with Bryz but it's usually because the 2nd goalie usually takes a start against weaker teams. Of course, we were a pretty weak team tonight ourselves. Oh well.

Well, I am hoping for a return from all 4 before the game against Edmonton. (Not that it's gonna happen, but one can hope). Wouldn't it be nice to have Schneider (finally), Bertuzzi, Getzlaf, and Niedermayer back in the lineup for the Edmonton game? I think so. Not sure how possible that even is though.

Anyway, bad game. This year is really proving..you can't win em all.
Here's to a better game on Sunday!

Game 11: Ducks @ Blues

PERIOD 1: 0 - 0

PERIOD 2: 2 - 3

PERIOD 3: 2 - 4

I was unable to watch this on TV but I had my radio in class with me. From the sounds of things, the Ducks are plagued with injuries. Getzlaf is now out, with an "upper body injury" that they never went into detail with on the radio. May might have injured his hand, but he was out playing after the scrap that hurt his hand. Of course, Bertuzzi and Schneider are still out. Rob Niedermayer was a scratch with a groin injury. Oh well, injuries happen. Can't avoid that.

From what I heard on the radio, it sounded like they had their usual slow 1st period. They played a better 2nd period, tallying two goals. But that just wasn't enough. They failed multiple times on power plays, which is a repeated offense by this team. Their power play/special team just isn't working out just right. Of course, there was an almost goal by Pronger, that went under review, and came out that he hit the crossbar. Sucks. That would have been the tieing goal.

A particularly annoying thing tonight to any Ducks fan, is the weasle Paul Kariya got two goals for his new squad. Yuck. His 2nd goal was the empty netter that brought the score to its final 4-2.

So in this 2 game roadie, they come back with 0 points. Playing Phoenix on Thursday at home. Which I have to miss out on because of class, but again I'll have my radio.

Woo what a loss that was.

PERIOD 1: 0 - 1

PERIOD 2: 1 - 3

PERIOD 3: 1 - 3

Giguere got pulled in the 2nd period. He was playing just fine, the D in front of him was not. RC felt he had to pull Jiggy to light a fire under the team. So let it be known, he was not pulled for playing poorly, he was pulled to wake the team up. (According to the intermission report, for you persnickety readers needing the cold hard facts from a blog.) A newspaper article; however, stated RC was unhappy with Giguere's play, so many goals after few shots on goal was unacceptable. I apologize for posting the TV's version of things. They, and I, were wrong.)

The first period sucked. No legs. No skating. Standing around. Sluggish.
The second period was rocky, but they managed to get a goal on a 5 on 3.
Third period got a little heated, they showed frustration.

In a better light, it IS almost November, which means this kind of stuff is almost over. In my opinion we'll be getting Scott and Teemu back towards the end of November, so I just have to bite my lip until then. Keywords there were: In My Opinion. Don't take what I just said as fact, but take it as you will.

:)

What Would Scotty Do?

Woo! Two wins in a row! :) There's not much to say about tonights game though... it was kind of boring actually, but boring hockey is better than no hockey, right?

They announced a sell out crowd on the radio, not entirely sure how that's true because the stadium seemed... not sold out. But I suppose we have the 15,000 season seats to credit to the sell out, and they just didn't show up. :-P

GO DUCKS!

Injury Update

Schneider is reportedly expected to be back in 2 weeks. He has been gone with an ankle injury.

Bertuzzi is expected to be out for at least a week, with a concussion. (Thanks you stupid booger...)

and Marchant is day to day with a bruised foot, he took a puck to the foot against MN, but an MRI revealed no broken bones.

I really didn't know WHAT to expect tonight. But what they gave came as a suprise!! We kicked the Red Wings butts!! Wow.. it was a very entertaining game indeed. Umm yea. We blew our 3 - 1 lead in the 2nd period but kept fightin and got away from that tie by not just one, not two, but THREE goals to win the game!! :)

It really does show me that they can win games without Teemu and Scotty... if they just put more effort into it.

These boys made me proud tonight A great way to bounce back from a shutout the night BEFORE....

I love my team.

Oh God. This team was frustraiting tonight and all I could think about were two things... 1. I hate Boogaard, and 2. Gotta love that stanley cup hangover. :-/ Ok there was another third thing that crossed my mind too... 3. Teemu and Scotty.. WHERE ARE YOU???

Anyways.. it's not like we played BAD tonight.. we outshot these chumps and Parros rocked Boogaard down to the ice, Getzlaf had a sweet fight over in the corner in which he won.. and the first fight of the night was May vs. Boogaard which was an even fight... though it did look like May was holding on and trying not to be killed. There was a big size difference there. But you gotta give May credit, he honored "The Code" and let Boogaard try to "right the wrong" from the playoffs.

*Sigh* I realize I (and all Ducks fans alike) were very spoiled last year without the winning, but is it too much to want to see that happen again? I miss winning...

We'll see how tomorrow goes, but for right now, I REALLY miss Teemu and Scotty. This team seems to have lost its chemistry.

Ducks VS. Bruins HOME OPENER!!

Wow is all I have to say about the banner raising ceremony. Oh my God! It was "something special" (as Scotty would say). Teemu and Scotty came out last [of course] and it is hard to put into words just how loud the "ONE MORE YEAR" chant really was. I don't think the TV did it justice, and that's not to say it wasn't loud and clear on the TV, because it was... but in person, it was so much louder! My eyes DID get watery but I held back the tears. An observation of the banners... THEY'RE HUGE! The "Mighty Ducks" banners look tiny compared to the 3 new ones. My one complaint is the spot they chose to hang them in because from where I sit.. well you really can't see them. I hope they move them to a more visible area.

As for the game.. it was nice to get a win. Haven't seen one of those for a while eh? The first period was pretty boring, I'm not gonna lie. But after that it got a little better. Not a lot of action on the ice but we had 1 more goal than Boston did, which means I left the arena happy! :)

Next game in against Minnesota. Hmmm. Wonder if the Booger is going to finish his so called "unfinished buisness" that he supposedly has with our team. That should be and most likely will be an interesting game. Minnesota is quite pissed at us... but you know what I say? I say... GET OVER IT. :P

This game they played better. The defense had mental lapses BUT it was nice to see that they were playing better. Not exactly the start to the season I saw.. but you know, it's early and I'd rather have a losing slump now, then get all spoiled with winning in the beginning (like last year) and then head into a losing slump. We can just attack teams later on when they underestimate us and assume we have the stanley cup hangover and take advantage of it. We'll be fine.

A shootout loss.
What a shocker?

So we got outplayed and outshot (by way over half) and yet we kept up with them long enough to go to the dreaded shootout. Technically.. they did play pretty bad. Like they had jet lag or something (What a concept). But they kept at it and got at least a point out of the whole thing.

I will always hate the shootout. We suck at them. Don't practice them, don't win them, it's as simple as that. There are no shootouts in playoff hockey. That's a saying a Ducks fan repeats to themselves every time there is a shootout. LOL.

So despite the fact that we played poorly.. I still think they did a great job keeping up with a team playing their A game.
