Game 12: Ducks @ Sharks 10.30.10

OPINION:
All I have to say is: WHERE WAS THIS TEAM THAT PLAYED THOSE LAST TEN MINUTES, FOR THE WHOLE ENTIRE 50 MINUTES PRIOR. I don't like when they have a lightbulb turn on and they right their ship when there's only fractions of a period left to go. It's that TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE scenerio that I DON'T LIKE. I don't like when they do it because then they get my hopes up even though I know better and know it'll still be a loss. I can't handle games that work that way. Unless of course it actually worked out where they did steal the win. BUT NOT TONIGHT THEY DIDN'T.

San Jose? We played with San Jose? I didn't see any SJ game, did you?

Bah Humbug.

POST GAME QUOTES:
"We didn't play the way we needed to right off the drop," Getzlaf said. "We can't get scored upon on a faceoff play."

"There's obviously an animosity developing," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "We didn't seem to get involved in the game. There's always going to be fatigue, but it didn't look like we had much structure."

OPINION:
Can't be hating on this loss too much. Here's why: They got a point out of it by going to the overtime & the shootout, and they actually put effort into this one. I don't mind losing when there is effort involved. They controlled most of the game even though the final score says otherwise. Bryz always seems to be on his A-game when facing his former team. He's an absolute wall in shootouts, as he was when he was a Duck. With the Ducks gaining a point it is better than how they normally seem to fair in back-to-back games, so overall, I really can't come away from this loss too disappointed. Losses suck, don't get me wrong, but they suck a little less when they looked like they tried and it just wasn't enough.

POST GAME QUOTES:
"Right now, we're taking one shift at a time and small steps," center Todd Marchant said. "We just need to keep moving forward. I thought we played a solid road game, and can take positives from the effort."

"We had a strong second period and overall sound effort," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "We can't too excited about a good road point, or down too low. We need to keep an even keel."

GAME DAY QUOTES:
DUCKS:
"It was back and forth," Perry said. "We were up two, down three. It had everything in the game. We just came up short in the shootout. We didn’t have a solid game. Coming away with one point is good, but we always like to get two."

"It took forever," Hiller said. "That is probably one of the few games you’ll have in your whole career. It’s sad to lose it at the end. Roberto won this time, but we’ll see next time."

"It seemed like every puck went in somehow," Hiller said. "I think we showed a lot of character in fighting back when we were behind a couple of goals. We deserved that point, too bad we couldn’t get two in the shootout."

"Every game is not a Mona Lisa that you try to paint," said Ducks coach Randy Carlyle. "Tonight was one of those games. I’m sure both coaches are not going to keep the DVD of this one. Either way, I look at it that we did some good things from a standpoint that we battled back when we were down and executed on power play to provide some offense. We’ve been on a pretty good string here, so we’ll just take the point and move forward."
