Game 37: Ducks @ Bruins 12.20.10

OPINION:
One of the better games we have seen from the Ducks this year. Easy to say when they shutout a team like the Bruins, but it's true. Of course, it could have just been one of the worst for the Bruins. Either way, I'll take it. Take wins any way you can get them.

POST GAME QUOTES:
"If we play like that every single game, with guys out there blocking shots, we've got a good chance to win," [Jonas Hiller] said Monday night after stopping 45 shots to lead the Ducks to a 3-0 victory over the Boston Bruins.

"Jonas was in a zone and really stole the show," Ducks forward Bobby Ryan said.

GAME NOTES:
NOTES: McMillan was sent down to Syracuse on Nov. 22 and recalled from the AHL two days later. ... The Bruins have beaten Anaheim in regulation just once in their last nine games. ... Anaheim D Andreas Lilja played in his 500th game, and Ryan Getzlaf played in game No. 400. ... Ducks D Toni Lydman got hit in the face with a shot late in the first period, but he was back for the second. ... Referee Dan O'Halloran was knocked to the ice when he got caught in the middle of a big Bruins hit. He was able to continue.

OPINION:
So last night's game a miracle happened and instead of getting shutout the Ducks made a huge comeback to win. Not tonight. Tonight they just took in the shutout instead. They looked tired, slow, there was too much standing around, and honestly, I'd just rather not talk about it. Roller coaster of a season....

POST GAME QUOTES:
"This is the hand we were dealt and we have to be better," Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer said. "They played extremely well and we couldn't match it."

"I thought as poorly as we played it should have been a 1-0 hockey game going into the third period," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "I'm not dumping on the goalie and saying it's his fault. We didn't have a lot going. But we have to have those saves made in those situations."

"I definitely think I can play better," Hiller said. "I'm sure it was a matter of back-to-back games. We had another game last night but that can't be an excuse."

Ducks Win 4-3!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------
GAME DAY QUOTES:
"I didn't have any problem with the hit, but the fake of the dropping of the gloves for a player of that stature and his job," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "Think about it. What would your answer be to it. Really, I think what happened was after the penalty to George, on the Janssen incident, we got emotionally involved in the game. That was the difference. If he (Janssen) thinks he did the right thing, well, he just stirred our group."

"Tonight, we found a way to win one and that's a good sign," Carlyle said.

"They told me where to be and pucks were going to find me in there with Scotty walking off the half wall so I was just patient," Ryan said. "Sure enough, it came and I was able to poke it into an empty net. I think (Blues goalie Chris Mason) probably lost it in the scrum there."
